HDMI fiber line is made of four OM3 multimode fiber cores, glass fiber and POF plastic fiber. The transmission wavelength of both fibers is 850nm. Compared with the two kinds of fiber, glass fiber has longer transmission distance, higher bandwidth and smaller loss, which is easy to break, but plastic fiber has good flexibility but high price. In order to ensure stable transmission, plastic optical fiber is generally used in the distance below 20 meters, and glass optical fiber is used in the distance above 20 meters. The common HDMI cable adopts copper core transmission, which is cheap in price, but it can't achieve 4K / 60Hz high-definition transmission over long distance. The different material determines the huge difference between optical fiber HDMI cable and conventional HDMI cable in their respective fields.
